One of our favorite collections at the AlwaysNever office is Takahiro’s fall 2005 collection. It was such a fresh presentation and contrast to what other designers were showing around this time. One of Takahiro’s strong points is styling and layering, and The High Streets was some of his finest. Fur double breasted vests over cropped blazers, feather necklaces against hooded flannels, and leather satchels attached at the waist that trailed behind each model. But while the styling was great, it was the tailoring that stole the show. Jackets were deconstructed and re-constructed with different fabrics, layers were sewn on, large pouches were attached onto sleeves and legs, and massive waffle hoods adorned most of the shirts and jackets. And lest we forget the incredible embroidered jeans…
